Bar: a two-story bar built from repurposed shipping containers

For this project, we created a bar using repurposed shipping containers, constructed as a two-story structure with a distinctive architectural aesthetic. By stacking containers and combining them with an open bar area and a canopy, we created a functional and visually striking hospitality setup, suitable for events and temporary applications.

Stacked container structure with vertical accents

The bar is constructed from stacked shipping containers, whereby:

  • the ground floor serves as an open bar and service area
  • the container above serves as a visual element and provides additional space

The vertical stacking creates a distinct presence and makes the bar a recognizable landmark on the site.

Open bar area with service hatch

The ground floor is designed as an open bar, featuring:

  • a large service hatch
  • direct interaction with visitors
  • ample workspace behind the bar

This setup is ideal for temporary hospitality venues, where speed and accessibility are key.

Eye-catching color and industrial look

The containers are finished in a bold red color, giving the bar a distinctive and recognizable character. The combination of:

  • steel structure
  • container profiles
  • clean lines

creates an industrial look that fits perfectly within an event or festival setting.

Canopy and exterior structure

A metal support structure was installed around the bar, which can serve as:

  • a canopy or roof
  • a support for banners, lighting, or signage
  • demarcation of the bar area

This structure enhances comfort for visitors and allows the bar to be used in varying weather conditions.

Modular, temporary, and reusable

Like all shipping container solutions, this bar is also:

  • modular in design
  • quick to set up and take down
  • movable to another location
  • reusable for other events or setups

The containers can be reconfigured or expanded later.

Quick implementation without traditional construction

Thanks to the use of shipping containers, this bar could be built quickly, without traditional construction. This is a major advantage for temporary projects where timing and flexibility are essential.

Custom work by DS Units

DS Units was also responsible for the entire process for this project: from design and conversion to the installation of a ready-to-use bar in shipping containers, fully tailored to functionality, appearance, and intensive use.
