A Closer Look at Our Shipping Containers

Dimensions

We custom-convert shipping containers as needed, and—just like our other units—they are modular, allowing the final structure to be built in a variety of sizes. However, we are limited to a specific width of 2.43 meters per shipping container unit.

You can find an overview of all dimensions in our table.

Interior Design & Finishes

Because we convert each of our shipping containers individually, they can be configured in a variety of ways. Modular construction offers many advantages; here are a few points that apply to converted shipping containers:

  • Architecturally very attractive
  • Quick production
  • Stackable
  • Start with an existing structure
  • Very strong construction
What is the difference between a standard, technical, and converted shipping container?
  • Standard shipping containers are unmodified containers that are primarily used for storage or as secure spaces.
  • Technical shipping containers are designed to house technical installations, machinery, or utility systems.
  • Converted shipping containers are fully customized, including insulation, technical systems, and finishes, and are suitable for a wide range of applications such as events, pop-ups, or project solutions.
Are shipping containers suitable for permanent use?

Yes. Provided they are properly converted, insulated, and equipped with the necessary technical systems, shipping containers can be used for both temporary and permanent purposes. Their lifespan depends on their use, finish, and maintenance.

Can multiple shipping containers be connected together?

Yes. Shipping containers have a modular design and can be connected horizontally or vertically to form larger structures, depending on the project and technical requirements.

Is it possible to install technical systems in a shipping container?

Certainly. Shipping containers can be equipped with, among other things:

  • Electricity and lighting
  • Ventilation or climate control
  • Technical racks and machine setups
  • Cable entries and security

This makes them ideal for use as technical units.

Are shipping containers delivered ready to use?

Depending on the type of project, shipping containers are:

  • delivered unmodified (standard)
  • or fully pre-fitted and tested in our workshop

Installation and connection can be provided by DS Units.

Can shipping containers be moved after installation?

Yes. Shipping containers remain portable, even after being fitted out or converted. This makes them particularly well-suited for temporary projects or changing locations.

Does DS Units work with new or used shipping containers?

DS Units primarily uses new or very new shipping containers to ensure quality, safety, and a clean finish. Alternatives can also be discussed if desired.
